Automatically Updated in Our Reseller Scripts

If you use our reseller marketing scripts to share marketing content on your own sites, you won't need to update anything. The Getting Started video has already been swapped out with the new version in our Reseller Video Script and our Reseller Features Script.

Directly Embedded Videos Must Be Manually Updated

However, if you have embedded our Getting Started video directly on your website, you'll need to update it with the new video. The old video will continue to work, but it is out of date, so to utilize the most recent version, simply visit our Individual Videos page or visit the video's YouTube page to grab the embed code for the video.

Today we're releasing a brand new white-label video resource that you can use in promoting the CMS to your own clients. This video gives a quick overview and demonstration of the new Online Store functionality that's built right into LightCMS. Check out the new video below:

This video joins our collection of white-label videos that have always been available for you to use. It's also already been added to our reseller video script and our reseller features script. These marketing scripts are freely available to you and they provide automatically-updated marketing content for you to use on your own websites. We encourage you to check out all of our reselling and marketing resources if you haven't already.

The LightCMS Network page is one of the many ways we promote the work of our participating resellers. To participate, they simply need to be a member of our rewards program and to opt in through their account settings to be publicly promoted through us. And so the Network page has become a great tool for us to promote LightCMS resellers and web professionals familiar with the LightCMS system.

Recently we decided to revamp the LightCMS Network page (www.lightcms.com/network) to help increase its visual appeal and the value it provides to resellers featured there.

Case studies

A new section specifically for case studies has been added at the very top. These studies, which are published on our blog and our social media, are available on request to our gold-level and above Rewards members. 

Improved layout

We've also improved the efficiency and aesthetic of our case studies and featured partners sections. This makes those sections easier to browse and more interesting to look at.

Improved partners section

Preferred partners that opt to be visible on our network page (under the "featured partners" section) now have a short bio of their design company and logo included by default. We'll put that information together from your website unless you want to specifically submit something (which can be submitted via LightCMS.com/contact). If you are a preferred partner and you have a case study with us, then you will show up in both sections.

In case you didn't know, LightCMS provides free, unbranded marketing resources that designers can use to promote the CMS system to their own clients. We offer several unbranded video demos and tutorials, as well as scripts that can inject marketing content into your own websites. If you don't currently make use of these resources, be sure to check them out on our marketing help page.

If you are using these resources, we wanted to let you know of an important change that's coming. We're moving all of our video content from Blip.tv to YouTube. This change will require customers using our features scripts to make an important update, and it will have an impact, albeit small, on the way the videos are displayed. Please see the information below about how this may impact you.

Code update needed for reseller features script

If you are using our reseller features script, you will need to make some changes as a result of this update. Please see the following information about which updates are required for your situation:

• If you have implemented our reseller features script WITHOUT video (http://publishpath.com/scripts/resellerfeatures.js) anywhere on your website, you will need to update that script to the following URL - http://publishpath.com/scripts/cmsfeatures.js
• If you have implemented our reseller features script WITH video (http://publishpath.com/scripts/resellerfeatureswithvideo.js) anywhere on your website, you will need to make the following changes
  • Update the script to the following URL - http://publishpath.com/scripts/cmsfeatureswithvideo.js
  • Implement new javascript in your page's header to allow for the lightbox-style display of the videos. See the bottom of our instructions page to get the script code you need to implement.

If you have any questions about this, please see our full instructions page for implementing the reseller features scripts. This page has been updated with the new information, and you can simply cross-check your current implementation against this page to ensure accuracy.

Old reseller features code to be supported, but not updated, through 2011

Even if you make no changes to your reseller features implementation, it will continue to work through the rest of 2011. At the end of that time, however, we will be disabling the old reseller features scripts. We will also not be updating the content in the old reseller features scripts from this point forward. The new scripts will receive updates as normal. The new script is ready to use now and we encourage you to update to it as soon as possible.

Video list script to be updated on March 22nd, 2011

In addition to the reseller features scripts, we also support a video list script which displays a listing of our demo videos. If you are using this video list script, you will not need to make any changes to your implementation. We will update the content of the script on March 22nd and the changes will happen automatically on your sites.

However, we did want to make you aware that the look of the videos displayed in the video script will change a bit. Blip.tv allowed us the ability to upload our own thumbnail image to be used for the video before it was played. YouTube does not provide this ability so the thumbnails displayed when the videos are loaded will be different. The video player will also look slightly different. If you would like to see an example of what the videos will look like, you can see them on this page.

Changes to individually-embedded videos

We have also made our individual videos available for you to embed directly on your pages without using our scripts. If you have embedded our videos directly, you'll want to update them to pull from our new YouTube videos instead of Blip.tv. Just like the features scripts, the old Blip.tv videos will still work through the end of 2011. However, these videos will not be updated. Any updates we make to our videos will only be implemented through YouTube from this point forward. You can embed the videos from YouTube by visiting our Individual Videos page and following the instructions at the top.
